Mission
First Presbyterian Church is a mission-minded congregation. We serve all people without regard to sex, race, sexual orientation, religion, family structure, or ability. We seek to joyfully embrace the diversity of God’s creatures.
Our mission committee leads and empowers our congregation to respond to Jesus’ commission to go into the world to witness, teach, preach and exemplify the good news of Jesus Christ. Four principles guide our mission work:
We pray for God’s guidance continually in our decisions.
We target missions where we can make a significant difference.
We select missions that intentionally share the good news in addition to modeling Christ’s love.
We aim to develop a personal relationships with our mission partners.
We’re a Matthew 25 church
Our congregation has accepted the PC(USA)’s invitation to follow Jesus’ teachings in Matthew 25:31–46 by becoming active disciples and making a difference in our community and the world.
We participate in (and sometime lead!) more than thirty mission projects, in Grinnell, Iowa, and the ends of the earth.
